Chemical Composition of Chromosomes

Chemically chromosomes are composed of Deoxyribo-nucleo protein. Deoxyribo-nucleo protein is composed of DNA and protein. The abundant chromosomal proteins are called histones.
DNA is about 40% and protein 60% in the chromosome. A small amount of RNA is also present in the chromosome.
DNA is made up billions of Nucleotids. Each nucleotids contain phosphoric acid, deoxyribose sugar and one of four nitrogenous bases. A typical human chromosome contains about 140 millions (1.4 x 10) nucleotide in its DNA.
